BEHIND THE BENCH / A PRACTICAL GUIDE
Scope & Change Tracker
Separate agreed work, potential additions and reported problems before discussing a change.
When it helps
A client calls a new request “part of the original job,” while your team sees an addition.
What to bring
The original agreed scope, including exclusions, plus the new requests or reported faults. Keep conflicting claims in the text.
What happens
AI compares the two source fields and proposes classifications with original source passages. Review and edit each item, then check the requests you want in the discussion draft. Sample mode uses a fictional project; manual mode makes no AI call.
What you leave with
An editable discussion draft with the selected requests, evidence and proposed next steps. Copy it after review. Included work and reported problems can be discussed without declaring them billable additions.
Condensed result from a fictional production test
A short example
Input. Cedar Finch: reception displays and new cable runs are excluded; one training session is included. The client requests a reception display, reports an existing display fault and asks for training, calling all three original scope.
Result. Reception: potential addition, with the conflicting claim retained. Existing display: reported problem — investigate. Training: likely included.
Example only. AI wording can vary; this is not an interactive result.
Why it works this way
A fault in something already agreed is different from a new request. Keeping source excerpts beside suggested classifications helps you challenge the label before drafting a change conversation.
Your judgment stays in the loop
Check every classification against the agreement. A reported fault needs investigation; it does not establish who is responsible or who pays. Confirm any price, timing and approval separately.
Current practical limits
This does not interpret a contract authoritatively, price work, send a change request or approve it. AI can misread context. Own-input AI reviews use an external provider; sample/manual work stays on the page. Keep this tab open to retain edits.
